On a windless night with the moon hidden by clouds in November everything seemed set for a big numbers catch. However we were to be disappointed with a catch of just 22 birds.
The catch was made up of :
- Avocet 1 (juvenile)
- Grey Plover 1 (adult in moult)
- Dunlin 10 (just 2 adults), plus a retrap
- Bar-tailed Godwit 2 (both juveniles)
- Redshank 6 (only one of which was a juvenile), plus a retrap
Retraps always add a little interest, details given below:
- Dunlin ringed at Harty as an adult on 26th October 2011 with the same wing measurement, but is now 7g heavier.
- Redshank ringed at Harty as an adult on 26th October 2008 with very similar measurements and weight.
Yes they were both ringed on 26th October but in different years.
