A team of 6 visited our core site at Harty. Weather conditions were good being mild and still though the full moon and cloudless sky made for very bright conditions and an expectation that the catch, would be small. The tide was at 01:30 so we were set for a long night.
The catch included the following:
- 16 Knot (all juveniles)
- 15 Redshank (all but one adult), including one retrap from 2018
- 13 Dunlin (all adult except one juvenile)
- 6 Bar-tailed Godwit (3 adult, 3 juvenile)
- 4 Grey Plover (all adults)
- 2 Turnstone (both juveniles)
- 1 Ringed Plover (juvenile)
- 1 Snipe (juvenile)
Perhaps it was the tape lure or possibly the decoys but we considered a catch of 58 birds a very satisfactory return for the effort.
