Swale Wader Group

A team of 5 ringers carried out a catch at Harty on Saturday 26th July and succeeded in catching nine birds, although a disappointing total, we have to remember there are only relatively small numbers of waders  present at the end of July. The catch however was quality, being made up of a Golden Plover, a Grey Plover, 4 Whimbrel and 3 Redshank. It is pleasing to have made this catch of Whimbrel helping to maintain the Swale Wader Group’s position as a major contributor to the UK ringing totals of this species.
