Contact us
Opportunities exist for ringers with all permit classes to take part in wader ringing throughout the autumn. Our season normally begins in mid-July and runs through to the end of the year. Depending on suitable conditions and the availability of birds we sometimes continue into January or February.
Anyone interested should contact us using this form, providing some indication of your bird ringing experience, and your general availability - especially for potential mid-week catching opportunities.
We always have sufficient experienced ringers on the team to ensure the welfare of the numbers of birds we are likely to catch but new members are always welcome.
Catches take place on overnight high tides when they are highest, at full and new moon, so conditions can be cold, dark and wet. Wellington boots, or preferably thigh-waders, are essential and a head-torch is highly desireable.
