A team of six ringers went to Harty on Monday night and managed to catch 38 birds. The two small pools were in ideal condition, with no moon and no wind we had a very pleasant night's ringing, coming off the marsh at about 02:40.
The following birds were trapped:
- Grey Plover 3 (all adults in moult)
- Dunlin 18 (mainly juveniles plus a retrap that was ringed at Spitend two weeks ago)
- Black-tailed Godwit 2 (one adult and 1 juvenile)
- Curlew 2 (adults)
- Whimbrel 1 (most likely the last one for this year)
- Redshank 11 (a mixture of adults and juveniles)
I am sure that the Redshank total was boosted by the sound lure. Thanks to Paul for bringing his super loud MP3 player.
