A catch was taken at Harty on the night of the 3rd/4th October. A team of eight ringers enjoyed the peace and quiet of a calm clear night with an almost full moon that was shrouded in mist. Not many birds flying over the ringing pools and no Brent Geese heard grunting, just a few calls form gulls, Mallard and waders.
A total of 23 birds were caught and ringed made up of the following species:
- Dunlin - 7 (4 adults and 3 juveniles)
- Black-tailed Godwit - 10 (9 adults and a juvenile)
- Bar-tailed Godwit - 1 plus a recent retrap (both juveniles)
- Redshank - 4 (2 adults and 2 juveniles)
After the last catch of over 80 birds the number of birds caught was disappointing no doubt affected by the bright conditions, and there just seemed fewer birds around.
