I team of 11 ringers assembled at Well Marsh, which is at Spitend on Elmley, on Friday 29th October 2016 and had a catch of 76 birds. On a warm, dry and moonless night, the weather conditions were ideal, we erected 9 nets covering the main extensive but very shallow pool. A steady catch of birds started with the first as the nets were being set in place.
The following birds were caught:
- Grey Plover - 1 juvenile
- Bar-tailed Godwit - 2 juveniles
- Knot - 2 juveniles
- Dunlin - 68, plus a control of a Polish ringed bird
- Redshank - 2 adultsĀ
We are awaiting the details of the Polish ringed Dunlin. As well as the metal ring this bird was fitted with a white numbered colour ring.
There were no retraps and only the one control.
